2024 Emmy winner predictions: Who will and should win in the key reality races
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT

This year, Emmy voters delivered a few surprises in the reality categories, like snubbing Queer Eye's Fab Five in the hosting category, giving Survivor host Jeff Probst his first nod in over a decade, and nominating The Traitors for Outstanding Competition Program.

Beyond that... well, it was pretty much business as usual. For now, we'll have to generate our own excitement by identifying the frontrunners in the top reality TV categories. Read on for Entertainment Weekly's predictions for who will (and should) win for competition, host, unstructured and structured reality show.

Peacock; Paramount+

The Amazing Race, CBSRuPaul's Drag Race, MTVTop Chef, BravoThe Traitors, PeacockThe Voice, NBC

Who will win: RuPaul's Drag RaceIf 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023 are any indication, voters really, really love this Race.

Who should win: The TraitorsIf 2022 is any indication, though, there's always a chance for a newcomer to score an upset win — and season 2 of Peacock's over-the-top "murder"-mystery competition was killer fun.

Paramount+; Peacock

RuPaul Charles, RuPaul's Drag RaceDaymond John, Barbara Corcoran, Mark Cuban, Lori Greiner, Kevin O'Leary, and Robert Herjavec, Shark TankAlan Cumming, The TraitorsKristen Kish, Top ChefJeff Probst, Survivor

Who will win: RuPaul CharlesHe's taken the W eight years in a row. Why should 2024 be any different?Who should win: Alan CummingSurely even Mama Ru would agree that the Tony winner brings a delightfully theatrical flair to his role as "castle-dwelling, cape-wearing host" on The Traitors.

Netflix(2)

Antiques Roadshow, PBSDiners, Drive-Ins, and Drives, Food NetworkLove Is Blind, NetflixQueer Eye, NetflixShark Tank, ABC

Who will win: Queer EyeIt's possible that the reports of behind-the-scenes drama pushed the Fab Five off the Outstanding Host ballot, but the series can probably eke out a seventh win in this category.

Who should win: Love Is BlindSure, only one couple got married, but boy, did Love Is Blind season 6 have some award-winning drama: #MeganFoxGate! Not-so-secret engagements! Debates over birth control! Disappearing suitors! It's hard to give this season anything but two thumbs up.

FX

Below Deck Down Under, BravoLove on the Spectrum, NetflixRuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked, MTVVanderpump Rules, BravoWelcome to Wrexham, FX

Who will/should win: Welcome to WrexhamThis football docuseries starring It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney and Deadpool & Wolverine's Ryan Reynolds seems to fill the Ted Lasso-sized hole in voters' hearts, and there's no reason to think things have changed. Also, Vanderpump's post-Scandoval season was a drag, and voters may be wary of celebrating Below Deck Down Under, in which two cast members were fired for making inappropriate advances on their colleagues while drunk.

The Emmys are voted on each year by the members of the Television Academy. The final round of voting will come to a close on Aug. 26, and the 2024 Emmys will air live on Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on ABC.
