SNL alums Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig both score lead actress and guest actress noms at 2024 Emmys
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT Talk about a dynamic duo.

It's a great morning for Saturday Night Live alums and besties Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig.

Both actresses received Emmy nominations at the upcoming 2024 Emmys in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category for their return to 30 Rock as SNL hosts. Rudolph hosted this year's Mother's Day episode back in May, performing a memorable musical monologue that also caught the attention of the Television Academy. The opening "I'm Your Mother" track earned Rudolph a nom for Outstanding Original Music And Lyrics. (She's so mother for that.)

Wiig, on the other hand, returned to the stage just one month prior for the April 6 episode alongside musical guest Raye, which initiated her into the coveted Five-Timers Club. Rudolph was a cast member on SNL between 2000 and 2007, while Wiig was a cast member between 2005 and 2012.

The recognition doesn't end there for the two. Both Rudolph and Wiig also picked up noms in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category for their work in Loot and Palm Royale, respectively. That makes two noms total for Wiig at this year's ceremony and four for Rudolph, also recognized once again in the Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her work as the Hormone Monstress in animated series Big Mouth.

Wiig has earned 11 Emmy nominations throughout her career, but has yet to take home a win. Rudolph, nominated 15 times, is the recipient of five that span her work on SNL and Big Mouth.

Since their departures from 30 Rock, Rudolph and Wiig have also appeared in a number of films together, including 2011's Friends with Kids and the Oscar-nominated Bridesmaids. They most recently reunited at the 2020 Academy Awards to present Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Barbara Ling and Nancy Haigh the statuette for Best Production Design.

FX has the highest number of noms at the upcoming ceremony, with the historical epic Shōgun picking up a whopping 25 nominations and restaurant drama The Bear following close behind with 23.

The 2024 Emmy Awards will air Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC.
