EW's final predictions for 2024 Emmy nominations
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT We take one last look at the major categories ahead of the big announcement.

Game of Thrones holds the record for the most Emmy nominations by a show in one season: 32. Can season 2 of The Bear beat that?

Probably not, but rest assured, the Hulu series is going to get a lot of 'em when Emmy winners Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tony Hale reveal the nominations for the 76th Emmy Awards. That will be in large part to the series' robust supporting cast, as well as its guest star count thanks to the much talked-about flashback episode, "Fishes," which featured Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Paulson, John Mulaney, Jon Bernthal, and so many more — not to mention, appearances by folks including Olivia Colman in other episodes.

HBO; FX; Netflix

Max's Hacks is also back in the mix after a year off — that comedy series, plus Abbott Elementary and Only Murders in the Building, should hear its name called several times.

On the drama front, FX's Shōgun — which at one time was a limited series but switched to drama after getting renewed for a second season — and the final season of The Crown are sure bets, as are cast members including Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, and Crown stars Imelda Staunton and Elizabeth Debicki.

The limited/anthology series category is another stacked competition — expect to hear Baby Reindeer, Fargo, Ripley, True Detective: Night Country, and Lessons in Chemistry dominate.

On the latest episode of The Awardist podcast, EW TV critic Kristen Baldwin reveals her final picks in the main categories, which in some cases include one fewer nominee than we had predicted now that we know the number of submissions, which determines the nominees. Check those out in the podcast below.
