Tyler, the Creator 'used to hate' Donald Glover, still brings him out as surprise guest at Coachella
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT The rapper said he also used to hate A$AP Rocky, another surprise guest during his headlining set Saturday night.

Tyler, the Creator got by with a little help from his friends during his Coachella 2024 headlining set this weekend — but he says he actually "used to hate" two of them.

The rapper literally flew on stage to deliver a kinetic set full of surprise guests to close out the Indio, Calif. music festival Saturday night. The first cameo occurred half an hour into the set when Donald Glover resurrected his musical alter ego, Childish Gambino, after a four-year hiatus and hit the stage for a performance of "Running Out of Time," from Tyler's 2019 album, Igor.

Glover sang the hook while Tyler rapped the lyrics of the song, with them dancing and vibing with each other throughout it. Once the track finished, they hugged and gave each other shout-outs in the microphone before Glover walked off stage.

"You know what's sick?" Tyler asked the crowd after Gambino left. "I used to hate that n---a. Seriously. I don't know why — I've got to go to therapy to figure it out. But this n---a put this song called 'Urn' out. It was so undeniable, n---a, I was at conflict with myself. Like f---, how could a n---a I hate so much make something so good?"

Tyler repeated that sentiment later when he brought out his next guest, A$AP Rocky, who came on stage for "Potato Salad" and "Who Dat Boy."

"You know what's crazy? I used to hate that n---a too," Tyler said. "Okay, we thought we had beef. It was the n----s around us, and then me and Rock was like, 'We got love.' And now we friends."

Later in the set, Tyler brought out Charlie Wilson to accompany him on the piano for "Earfquake," and Kali Uchis appeared to sing her part in "See You Again."

Tyler also looked back on his first time performing at Coachella, in 2011, as part of the Odd Future crew.

"It was terrible," he said, recalling how the group was ultimately kicked out of the festival after shooting water guns at attendees.
