Comedian and FBoy Island star Nikki Glaser is set to host the 2025 Golden Globes, one year after fellow stand-up comic Jo Koy courted criticism for his performance as emcee of the awards show's 2024 edition.

CBS and Dick Clark Productions revealed Wednesday that the 40-year-old would preside over the upcoming ceremony, which launches in January as one of the first major awards season broadcasts to highlight its list of film and TV honorees.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Golden Globes. It’s one of my favorite nights of television and now I get a front row seat (actually, I think I have to host from the stage),” Glaser said in a press statement. “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy. It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows, but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God I hope so). It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable, and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).”

Glaser went on to cite Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Ricky Gervais as past Golden Globes hosts who've inspired her, and that she hopes "to continue in that time honored tradition (that might also get me canceled)."

In addition to Glaser, Emmy-winning production duo Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner will return to executive-produce the 82nd Golden Globes, which will also stream on Paramount+.

Last year, Koy's performance as Golden Globes host — which he reportedly secured only 10 days prior to the live show — was widely derided, particularly after attendee Taylor Swift appeared unamused by one of his jokes, and following a quip which saw Koy throw his writers under the bus when some of his jokes didn't land.

"I love my writers," Koy later told the Los Angeles Times. "I love all three of them and I shouted them out. And I told them, like, that was a moment right there where I’m just grasping. I love them and I can’t stop talking about them in every interview. They busted their a--, man."

Often regarded as a key stepping stone in the run-up to the Oscars, the Golden Globes first launched in 1944 after the formation of its former voting body, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which was disbanded in 2023 amid the group's ongoing effort to rehabilitate its image. The HFPA endured intense criticism after a February 2021 L.A. Times exposé revealed that, amid a Best Picture snub for Judas and the Black Messiah, there were no Black members among the HFPA's 87-member votership. One week later, the Globes pulled in record-low ratings atop blowback from Ava DuVernay, Scarlett Johansson, and Tom Cruise — the latter who returned his trio of Globes in protest.

The Globes have since returned to television without longtime broadcast partner NBC, which parted ways with the Globes following the 2023 ceremony.

The 2025 Golden Globes nominations will be revealed on Monday, Dec. 9, with the ceremony following on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on CBS.
