Miley Cyrus calls out Grammys audience for 'acting like' they 'don't know' her song 'Flowers'
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT Cyrus became a Grammy winner for the first time at the 2024 ceremony — and later put the spotlight on the audience's reaction to her performance.

Miley Cyrus was seemingly talking — and singing — to herself on stage at the 2024 Grammys, as she hilariously called out the ceremony's live audience for lackluster energy during her performance of "Flowers."

Shortly after winning her first-ever Grammy for the No. 1 hit, the 31-year-old performed the smash single for the first time on a live broadcast.

As Cyrus began the song, she looked to her left and right and motioned for the audience to stand up as she crooned the first lyrics of the song.

As the song built, so did Cyrus' apparent confusion over the crowd's reaction to the set.

"Why are you acting like you don't know this song?" Cyrus said to those in attendance, holding her hand up between the song's first chorus.

In typical fashion, though, the camera cut to perennial awards show dancer Taylor Swift, who was on her feet grooving to the song and mouthing its lyrics, and laughed in response Cyrus' quip.

Cyrus headed into the Grammys ceremony without a victory to her credit, but ended the night as a two-time champion, with "Flowers" winning for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year.

Both of Cyrus' acceptance speeches also landed as notable moments from the telecast, with the Hannah Montana star praising presenter Mariah Carey for handing over her first statuette at the top of the broadcast.

"This M.C. is gonna stand by this M.C. for this, because this is just too iconic," Cyrus said. Later, after taking Record of the Year from presenters Meryl Streep and Mark Ronson, Cyrus teased that she might not be wearing any undergarments for the prestigious moment.

"I don't think I forgot anyone, but I might've forgotten underwear... bye!" she said before turning around and prancing off stage.
