Emily in Paris actor Paul Forman to guest-star on
Published on December 13, 2025 EDT The actor will face off against Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor in the upcoming season.

Paul Forman is going from Paris to the Who-niverse.

Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal that the Emily in Paris star will appear in the upcoming season of Doctor Who, facing off against Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor. Forman will play a mysterious Regency-era character named Lord Barton, who has a surface-level charm but carries sinister secrets underneath his smooth words.

“Any new chapter is exciting to be a part of, especially when it’s of a beloved and remarkable universe such as Doctor Who,” Forman said in a statement. “To join such an established project and to combine it with this feeling of new and unbounded possibilities was thrilling. It made this role a special experience that I will never forget.”

Lord Barton will appear in the sixth episode, titled "Rogue," and in an interview for EW’s recent cover story on Doctor Who, showrunner Russell T Davies teased Forman’s sinister character. “Someone like Paul isn’t just a name; he’s a talent,” Davies said. “He comes along in episode 6, and it’s a whale of a time. We’ve all seen Emily in Paris, and we’ve seen him being one sort of person. I don’t think anyone’s quite expecting him to become this sort of person.”

Gatwa’s first full season of Doctor Who will premiere May 10, the first season produced under the new deal between the BBC and Disney+. Gatwa’s Doctor is joined by Millie Gibson as new companion Ruby Sunday, and the season will follow them as they traverse the universe, journeying from distant planets to ‘60s-era London.
