Love Lies Bleeding moviegoer arrested for indecent exposure in Michigan
Published on December 01, 2025 EDT A patron at the MJR Southgate Cinema was taken into custody following a screening of Kristen Stewart's new crime thriller.

A moviegoer was arrested for indecent exposure at a screening of Kristen Stewart's new queer crime thriller, Love Lies Bleeding, at the MJR Southgate Cinema outside Detroit on Thursday night.

Southgate Police Officers responded to an incident at the theater involving a “disorderly person who was intoxicated and refusing to leave the business” at approximately 9:07 p.m local time.

A press release concerning the situation that was obtained by EW stated, "Officers encountered a 33-year-old W/M subject who was passed out inside one of the movie theaters. That male was subsequently taken into custody by officers for possession of narcotics, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.”

MJR Theatres did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) who was at the screening also posted a graphic photo of a moviegoer who appeared to be unconscious with his genitals exposed in the theater.

“Went to go see Love Lies Bleeding and this drunk guy jacked himself off to sleep,” user Ben Salami wrote in the image's caption. The photo showed multiple bottles of alcohol and a pack of cigarettes next to the unconscious patron.

The user later followed up the post with a photo of police officers in the lobby of the theater. “Managers called the cops. I collected free movie tickets,” they explained.

"For the record, the manager handled the situation professionally and appropriately. The manager was extremely apologetic and very nice," they added.

Love Lies Bleeding stars Katy O'Brian as a bodybuilder who falls in love with a gym manager (Stewart) and finds herself entangled in a web of crime and passion.

"I also think it's a movie that's very much made to entertain, and you can go as deep as you want with it," O’Brian told EW in a recent interview. "But I also love just being able to show a queer relationship and it not be perfect and it not be full of humility, and that the queerness isn't at all the purpose of the story."
