Video footage posted on social media showed the rapper being handcuffed and escorted out of the Crypto.com arena on Sunday by police after he won three Grammys during the pre-televised portion of the ceremony.

The Hollywood Reporter's Chris Gardner, who broke the news with his videos on Twitter, said that an official told him "it's a misdemeanor and has nothing to do with anything that happened today here inside the arena. Likely he will be released once it’s sorted. 'It’s a big nothing,' source says."

Gardner also shared a photo of Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. talking with Killer Mike’s team and with officials. "The scene by security has calmed but Mike is still detained back there," Gardner tweeted.

Representatives for Killer Mike, the Grammys, as well as the LAPD did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.

During the pre-show ceremony, the rapper won in all three categories he was nominated in: Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for "Scientists and Engineers," the song featuring André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane, as well as Best Rap Album for Michael, his sixth studio album.

Killer Mike last won a Grammy in 2003, when he was first nominated for his feature on OutKast’s "The Whole World." He was later nominated for best rap song in 2018 for "Chase Me" by his duo Run the Jewels with El-P.
