It’s not all sunshine and railroads between Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector — sometimes there’s also scalding hot butter.

In The Gilded Age, the duo dazzle as new money titans Bertha and George Russell. But fans have come to realize that their 19th century scheming isn’t the first time these actors have crossed paths. A clip of the two starring in what looks to be a vintage commercial has been circulating on social media and even earned a response from Coon herself.

"Excuse me but you need to see this Red Lobster commercial featuring Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector,” wrote one X user, sharing the clip. “They had chemistry even then. Forget the Gilded Age. This was their Crustacean Age.”

As it turns out, the clip "advertising" 30 shrimp for only $10.99 is just a fraction of the story. Quickly clearing up the confusion, Coon responded to let fans know the true origins of the scene: a surrealist short film about a woman who slowly comes to realize that she is trapped in a repeating commercial.

"It’s an avant garde short film called Great Choice by director Robin Comisar,” Coon told her followers.

The 2017 short stars Coon as a middle-aged mother who grows increasingly unsettled as she becomes aware of the Groundhog Day-esque situation she is in. Meanwhile, Spector is a waiter with a menacing demeanor who moves the never-ending commercial along on in its loop.

“What sounds good to you folks tonight?” Spector’s waiter asks, again and again.

“30 shrimp please,” Coon initially responds — though she’s already unsettled by the time the second loop comes around. From there, things go off the rails: the routine is thrown off-course, hot butter is poured, the waiter gets angrier, and Coon more desperate.

As fans know them on The Gilded Age, the opulent historical drama from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, Coon and Spector are a power couple with cutthroat tendencies who are always tender with one another… Which makes it all the more fun to see them navigate the chaos of the frightening Red Lobster loop.
