My list of five favorite movies (I didn't say "best") has not changed since the early 2000s, and Twister is among the chosen few. I recently had the chance to chat with star Helen Hunt and director Jan de Bont, and was riveted hearing their memories of making the 1996 blockbuster. To bookend that experience, Thursday we published my cover story on the new “standalone” sequel, , which truthfully thrilled me as much as the original. (I'm glad it thrilled our critic as well!) Whether for nostalgia or just to escape the heat, you won't be disappointed if you check it out when the new movie blows into theaters next week. —Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief

Can Colman Domingo score back-to-back Oscar nominations? After landing his first earlier this year for Rustin, his beautifully layered work in Sing Sing could make him a contender again in 2025. Based on a true story about the Rehabilitation Through the Arts (a.k.a. RTA) program at New York's Sing Sing Correctional Facility, Domingo stars as Divine G, who, alongside several formerly incarcerated men, finds direction, purpose, and brotherhood in a place designed to define them by their worst moment. It’s one of the best — and most hopeful — movies in theaters this year. —Gerrad Hall, Editorial Director

Rita Ora and Brandy are facing off… and not for a season of The Masked Singer. The divas play warring monarchs in Disney Channel's delightful new Descendants installment. Come for the Cinderella reunion, stay for the heartwarming tale of friendship — and catchy soundtrack! —Sydney Bucksbaum, Staff Writer

When aspiring makeup artist Loretta Reynolds discovers the truth about 1950s Tinseltown, she rallies a group of gals against the cruel, powerful men of the industry. With its dry wit and sweet vengeance, author Katherine Blake’s debut is as crisp, classic, and satisfying as a Musso & Frank martini.—Maureen Lee Lenker, Senior Writer

Catch the music festival vibe at home with Dandelion! Writer-director Nicole Riegel crafts a beautiful story that follows a struggling singer-songwriter and features a standout performance by KiKi Layne. It's a powerful film — with some wonderful songs — on musicians trying to make it big.—Alamin Yohannes, Social Media Director

Known for its Paranormal Activity and Insideousness in theaters, horror producer Blumhouse is entering reality with this new Netflix docuseries. Each episode details poor souls sharing horrific (sometimes deadly) tales of roommate nightmares that make leaving dishes in the sink seem angelic.—Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief
