Meghan Trainor is literally begging to take Katy Perry's place as an American Idol judge.

During Wednesday's episode of Watch What Happens Live, the "Made You Look" singer told host Andy Cohen she's been asking for a long time to join the singing competition series, but her very serious inquiries have gone unanswered.

"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job," Trainor said. "I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world, who don't really have like the full say, but I've begged. I have begged for this job. I haven't heard any updates, so check my emails!"

Trainor explained that joining American Idol as a judge would be her dream job.

"I want to drive to work [at] American Idol, and then drive home," she said. "I love watching superstars go from they just auditioned to [becoming singers]. I love being part of that process. I just get way too attached. It's my favorite show, I've watched it since I was a child."

Perry recently announced that she would be exiting the singing competition series after its 22nd season while teasing a new album. "I love Idol so much," Perry said during Monday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. "It's connected me with the heart of America. But I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."

While she did not indicate if her fellow Idol judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan knew she was leaving the show, Perry said they likely "figured" something was happening because she'd "been in the studio for a while." Moving forward, the "Teenage Dream" singer said she hopes "to go and see the world and maybe bring new music" too, but she left the door open to "maybe" return to American Idol at some point in the future.

American Idol hasn't filled Perry's seat on the judges panel yet, so Trainor could have a shot if those emails get to the right person. "You know, they are keeping tight-lipped because I don’t even know," Richie recently said. "It’s going to be really interesting... So whoever’s coming on the show has got to be, well, to come past Katy, you’ve got to be humorous forever, and, on top of that, knowledgeable."
