With a month still to go before Election Day, I'm sure most of us are already feeling campaign fatigue. But if you're willing to put that aside for two hours, I highly recommend the fantastic performances by EW's latest cover stars, Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong, in The Apprentice (in theaters Oct. 11), which chronicles Donald Trump's friendship with Sen. Joseph McCarthy's former right-hand man, lawyer Roy Cohn. Never forgiving toward its subjects, the origin story is a fascinating character study of one of the most polarizing figures of our time and the man who made him. And if Apprentice isn't for you, then cleanse your palette with Challengers star Zendaya, who graces our new Awardist issue cover and podcast this week. —Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief

With the once-unstoppable Marvel Cinematic Universe in a bit of a slump due to overexpansion, the time is ripe for a parody series poking fun at all the behind-the-scenes tactics needed to keep a comic-book film franchise afloat. Hence this new HBO series and its apt title. Former (and future?) MCU star Daniel Brühl especially shines as a director whose vision is constantly bulldozed in the name of corporate synergy and last-minute rewrites to placate sensitive stars, a temperamental fan base, and, of course, a fickle Kevin Feige-like overlord. —Dalton Ross, Editorial Director

Our American Idol would never come for Mariah Carey's Queen of Christmas title, but her growing library of holiday hits is worth playing all year long. Her latest is already in heavy rotation at home, even before the Halloween decorations come out. —P.G.

Fifteen years after its Los Angeles debut, David Henry Hwang's autobiographical play finally has its Broadway bow. Lost alum Daniel Dae Kim plays Hwang, who protests against yellowface casting in a Miss Saigon revival, then accidentally casts a white actor as the Asian lead in his own play. —Maureen Lee Lenker, Senior Writer

This is a band to watch! Their first EP consists of chill pop songs inspired by A24 films, which guide their self-described "blue sky energy." The duo also put their own spin on pop favorites with covers of Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" and Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams," and mashups featuring songs by MGMT, Lorde, and more. —Briana Edwards, Social Media Editor
