Star Trek: Section 31Michelle Yeoh is a fierce 'bad bitch' in

Michelle Yeoh returns to Star Trek, and with the help of Beyoncé, she's getting her crew in formation.

The Trek Comic-Con panel on Saturday delivered the Star Trek: Section 31 teaser trailer, which serves as a true first look at the standalone movie coming to Paramount+ in early 2025.

Set to the sound of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter's "Formation," the footage sees Yeoh's delicious comeback as Philippa Georgiou, her character from Star Trek: Discovery. In this film from director Olatunde Osunsanmi and writer Craig Sweeny, Philippa joins a secret division of Starfleet called Section 31, which is the black ops unit.

As Kacey Rohl's character explains more simply, it's "spy work," adding, "Starfleet is here to make sure no one commits murder." Of course, Philippa, the one Omari Hardwick's character notes is "a tyrant who murdered her own people by the millions," thinks that's all a "cute idea."

The cast also features Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry), and the new addition of Miku Martineau (Kate). Martineau appears in the sneak peek as young Philippa.

Rohl, Hardwick, and Richardson were on hand to preview Section 31 with Osunsanmi and Sweeny, but Yeoh popped in with a video message to tee up the trailer reveal.

The Star Trek Comic-Con panel also came with other news from across the various series.

The Starfleet Academy spinoff announced a number of Star Trek veterans joining the cast. Tig Notaro, Oded Fehr, and Mary Wiseman reprise their Star Trek: Discovery roles of Jett Reno, Admiral Vance, and Sylvia Tilly, while Robert Picardo returns to his Star Trek: Voyager character the Doctor.

They will appear alongside the previously announced Kerrice Brooks, Bella Shepard, George Hawkins, Karim Diané, and Zoë Steiner, all playing cadets of Starfleet Academy. Holly Hunter, Gina Yashere, and Paul Giamatti will also feature in various capacities.

Over in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds land, which is prepping for the debut of season 3, Cillian O’Sullivan from In From the Cold will play another classic Trek character, Dr. Roger Korby, who was initially played by Michael Strong in Star Trek: The Original Series. The panelists, including executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Henry Alonso Myers, confirmed O'Sullivan will appear in a guest-starring capacity in addition to dropping a first-look clip from the new season.

The other big reveal came from Star Trek: Lower Decks, which rolled out the first trailer for the fifth and final season.

Appearing earlier in the day at Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con interview suite, Osunsanmi told EW how Section 31 is so different from all these other titles in the Star Trek catalog. "If you're a lifelong Star Trek fan, you get to see a story that wouldn't ordinarily take place in a Star Trek universe — and yet it's still Trek," he said. "You get to see characters that do things that you wouldn't ordinarily get to see them do and yet they're still Star Trek characters." He adds, "It's its own color in the rainbow."
