Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley recalls ex-girlfriend Paris Hilton's emotional reaction to a sex tape of her being released in his new memoir.
"Near the end of our time together, Paris heard rumors that her ex was going to release a sex tape of her," he writes in his book Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell. "She was doing everything she could to stop it from coming out, but six or seven months after we broke up, the s--- hit the fan. We had stayed in touch after we split, and after the tape came out, I reached out. We had some sad conversations and I listened to her cry about having to tell her parents about it."

He continued, "She's a smart person, though, and it was great seeing how she was able to turn that invasion of privacy into something that worked for her in the long run. Her advocacy is admirable, too. She definitely knew how to be the Mac. And most importantly how to stay the Mac."
The "Fat Lip" rocker dated Hilton in 2003.
He mentioned "the Mac" several times in his book, including when Ice-T advised his band, early in their career, at a party in New York City. "The only thing harder than being the Mac, is staying the Mac," Whibley recalled the rapper telling them.
"We've never forgotten those important words and kept them close as our reputations and careers grew and we wanted them to stay that way," the author writes.
In her own 2023 book, Paris: The Memoir, Hilton said she had been pressured into filming sex with her much older boyfriend, whom she refers to simply as "Scum." Besides, Hilton said, she was promised that no one else would ever see the video she was coxed into doing. She drank alcohol and took Quaaludes beforehand.
Then it went public.

"I felt like my life was over, and in many ways it was," Hilton wrote, per PEOPLE. "Certainly, the career I had envisioned was no longer possible."
Hilton, of course, has turned her career into a smashing success. She released a new album, Infinite Icon, last month, and reteams with The Simple Life costar Nicole Richie in the upcoming TV series Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
