Published on December 01, 2025 EDT Lifetime's upcoming true-crime thriller follows the man behind the Sarah Lawrence cult.

The Billy Zane-aissance is upon us!

Just last month, the 58-year-old actor/artist/hat enthusiast sold his film INT. HALLWAY/NIGHT at the Cannes Film Festival, and this month, he'll star as infamous cult leader sex trafficker Larry Ray in Lifetime's thriller Devil on Campus (June 23 at 8 p.m. ET).

Lifetime

EW has the exclusive first trailer of the true-crime movie, which follows ex-con Larry Ray as he moves into his daughter's dorm at Sarah Lawrence college... and just decides not to leave. At first, the students (played by Manuela Sosa, Alexis Sides, Frankie Warren, Miles Merry, Erin Walsh, and Tedra Rogers) don't mind, because Ray is just so much fun to be around — plus, he cooks for them and tosses out big wads of cash.

Eventually, though, Ray's fatherly advice turns to manipulation, and he begins to control them through isolation and other forms of mental and physical abuse. Naturally, when the students' parents — including Christian, played by Elisabeth Rohm, who also directs — learn that Ray is living with the kids and even spending nights in their beds, they panic. It will take years for them to free their kids from Larry's clutches. Watch the full trailer above.

The students' ordeal was also explored in Hulu's 2023 documentary Stolen Youth, and the real Larry Ray — who was arrested in 2020 — is now serving 60 years in prison after being convicted of several charges, including racketeering conspiracy, extortion, sex trafficking, and forced labor.

Devil on Campus: The Larry Ray Story airs June 23 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
