Published on January 15, 2026 EDT "I want to be the horror," Goldberg told her cohosts on "The View" during an interview with the stars of "Twisters."

After dealing with the terrors of interruptive audience members, unknown entities floating through studio airspace, and Joy Behar's evil-spirited cell phone, The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg has her supernatural sights set on starring in a horror movie for her next big-screen project.

The 68-year-old Oscar winner told her cohosts she'd like to experiment in the genre during a Thursday morning interview with Twisters stars Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones after the latter expressed interest in playing "a villain" or "someone really evil."

"Playing a villain is wonderful. You're the last person people are thinking. That's why I love horror," Goldberg said. "I keep saying I want to do a horror film because you would never think of me as the monster."

Goldberg's cohost Sara Haines cut in to ask, "You want to be the horror?" to which Goldberg replied: "I want to be the horror!"

The Hollywood icon has fronted many commercial hits throughout her career, including the two musical-comedy opuses of the Sister Act series (a third is on the way) and when she voiced the villainous hyena Shenzi in Disney's The Lion King classic.

One of her most well-known roles was in the 1990 drama Ghost, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as a medium bridging the communication gap between a woman (Demi Moore) and her murdered lover (Patrick Swayze).

While Ghost is not an outright horror project, it does contain horror elements — particularly near the film's conclusion, when a band of shadowy spirits whisks the movie's antagonist away to the underworld.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/PT on ABC.
