And Just Like That Kim Cattrall denies reports that she's returning for

Kim Cattrall is putting rumors of Samantha Jones' return to rest.

On Sunday, the Sex and the City actress addressed speculation that she would reprise the role once again for the third season of And Just Like That.

Responding directly to a tweet with a reshared Elle article that read, “It looks like #KimCattrall (a.k.a. Samantha Jones) will be back for And Just Like That...season 3 after all!,” Cattrall kindly shut down the claims.

“Aw that’s so kind,” Cattrall wrote on X. “But I’m not.”

Representatives for Cattrall and And Just Like That did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly’s request for comment.

Rumors have been circling that Cattrall would return for the revival series, which follows Samantha's SATC friends Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) as they navigate life and love in New York in their 50s. Following 2010's movie Sex and the City 2, Cattrall declined to do a third film and was not asked to return for And Just Like That. She did, however, surprise fans by making a brief cameo as Samantha at the end of the show’s second season last year.

When news broke of her season 2 cameo, the 66-year-old actress clarified that she has no plans to reprise the role of Samantha in a larger capacity.

"This is as far as I'm going to go," she told Today in 2023 when asked about expanding Samantha's presence in the future. But, she added, "I don't think I'll ever say goodbye to Samantha. She's like a lot of other characters that I've done over the years. I get very emotionally attached and protective of my characters. She gave me so much, and I'm so appreciative of her."

The first season of And Just Like That revealed that Carrie and Samantha had a falling-out before Samantha ultimately relocated to London. The two began texting after the death of Carrie’s husband, Mr. Big (Chris Noth), and in the season 2 finale they shared a sweet phone call.

"Samantha is present in season 1 and more so in season 2 via text. It was just a nice nod to the 25 years [of Sex and the City] to add the face to the text," Parker previously told EW of Cattrall's return. "And it's a really opportune moment in the story, [a] consequential event happening in Carrie's life, that Samantha rings and they have this quick, lovely, sentimental, funny call. And it just feels normal and really nice, and I'm glad that we could manage it and work it out and get it sorted time-wise and schedule-wise."

Over the years, Cattrall has refused involvement in a continuation of the Sex and the City franchise, reportedly due to tension with the cast.
