GrotesquerieAn orderly? The killer? Get your last hint for who Travis Kelce is playing in new

Forget the whodunnit: The biggest mystery so far to FX's new horror-drama Grotesquerie is just who exactly Travis Kelce is playing.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has appeared briefly and very vaguely in promos for the show, which debuted its first two episodes last week, but a new trailer for episode 3, a behind-the-scenes video, and two images are shedding more light on his mysterious character ahead of his official debut this week.

In the images, below, Kelce can be seen in a scene having a chat with Detective Lois Tryon (played by Niecy Nash-Betts) who is investigating a series of heinous murders. Kelce is dressed in what appears to be an all-white uniform of sorts, not unlike something an orderly might wear. Their conversation, which seems to be taking place in a hospital or institution of some kind, seems friendly, as Kelce is seen smiling.

In the trailer for episode 3, however, he seems to have an ominous warning, telling someone (presumably Lois), "She's on the hunt." The logline for the episode, which debuts Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET/PT, says simply: "Lois finds comfort in an unexpected person." Is that person Kelce's character, who hasn't been given a name in any loglines or promos yet?

The behind-the-scenes featurette, below, also makes his character seem more sinister. In it, Kelce, now dressed in black clothing and noticeably wearing earrings, can be heard telling someone, "Want me to plug in the nightlight so you're not scared in the dark?" Elsewhere in the featurette, Kelce takes viewers inside the set, showing them his hair and makeup routine to get "screen ready" and revealing his tips for getting into character — whoever that may be.

"I get into my character by just understanding the scene. I flip the switch like I would if I was going out on the football field and just getting into the zone," he says.

Prior to episode 3, Kelce hasn't been seen directly on screen; however, a man that suspiciously appears to be of Kelce's build has been sneaking into Lois' house, lurking in the shadows in the first two episodes. Per IMDb, Kelce is credited with 8 of the 10 episodes this season.

Hailing from Ryan Murphy, Grotesquerie kicks off with a series of gory crimes riddled with religious iconography that have unsettled a small community. Detective Tryon, who has a strained relationship with her daughter Merritt (Raven Goodwin), a drinking problem, and husband Marshall (Courtney B. Vance) in a coma, feels these crimes are eerily personal, as if someone — or something — is taunting her. With no leads and unsure of where to turn, she accepts the help of nun journalist Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond). As the two string together clues, they find themselves ensnared in a sinister web that only seems to raise more questions than answers.

Episode 3 and 4 of Grotesquerie are set to debut this Wednesday on FX starting at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
