No, your eyes weren't deceiving you. For the second time this calendar year, the Emmy Awards were on!

To recap, the 75th edition of the awards show was pushed last year from its usual September slot to January 2024 on account of the writers' and actors' strikes. However, all television shows, limited series, or made-for-TV film entries at the 76th annual Emmy Awards this Sunday must have been released between June 1, 2023, and May 31, 2024, in order to be in consideration for this year's ceremony hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy and airing on ABC from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

FX's hit series The Bear went into the show as the most-nominated comedy series in Emmys history with a record-breaking 23 nominations for its second season, and won three of the first four awards given out with comedy wins for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jeremy Allen White, and Liza Colón-Zayas. The Bear's winning streak was finally snapped when Jean Smart (Hacks) beat Ayo Edebiri for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The Bear's Christopher Storer later won for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and with that directing win — the show's 11th trophy this season — The Bear broke its own record for most Emmy wins for a comedy in a single year.

But the Hacks love was not over. The HBO Max series also won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and then surprised by taking home the final trophy of the evening, beating The Bear for Outstanding Comedy Series.

On the drama side, Shōgun scored 25 nominations, and the show already made Emmy history before the ceremony even began after winning 14 awards at last weekend's Creative Arts Emmys, the most ever for a single season of a television series. It then won its first trophy of the ABC telecast for Frederick E.O. Toye's Best Directing for a Drama Series. Hiroyuki Sanada later won for Lead Actor in a Drama, followed moments later by Anna Sawai for lead actress. The seemingly inevitable Outstanding Drama Series win came soon after. The four victories on the ABC telecast put the grand total of Shōgun wins at 18.

The final season of The Crown was up for 18 nominations for its send-off, but it's only big win was for Elizabeth Debicki in the Outstanding Supporting Actress category, while Billy Crudup gaveThe Morning Show a victory in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.

In the limited series or movie categories, Baby Reindeer ruled, winning Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, while Richard Gadd won for both lead actor and writing, and Jessica Gunning took home the trophy for supporting actress. Jodie Foster was named the Outstanding Limited Series Actress winner for True Detective: Night Country, while Lamorne Morris won for Outstanding Limited Series Supporting Actor for his work on Fargo.
