Freaky TalesJay Ellis recalls working with late Angus Cloud on
Published on December 01, 2025 EDT "He gave such a great performance," Ellis said of the "Euphoria" actor, who died last summer.

Jay Ellis is remembering his late costar Angus Cloud.

At the premiere of their new movie Freaky Tales at the Sundance Film Festival, the Insecure star praised the Euphoria actor, who died last year at 25 from an accidental overdose.

Recalling one of the anthology film's standout segments, in which Ellis fights a horde of neo-Nazis, the actor said, "As we went to go do the work at the house… I got to meet Angus Cloud, and it was an absolute — we laughed the entire time, as crazy as that scene is." He added, "We had so much fun between setups. There were meltdowns, we helped each other through the meltdowns quite a few times. But it was just so dope to see this cast come together and do this movie."

Ellis went on to pay tribute to Cloud. "Rest in peace to Angus," he said. "He gave such a great performance and was there to have so much fun with us."

Freaky Tales also honors Cloud via a final title card in the credits, which reads, "In loving memory of Angus Cloud."

The movie is the first from Half Nelson filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck since 2019's Captain Marvel, and also stars Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn, Normani, Jack Champion, and Too Short. It marks one of Cloud's final screen performances.
