Jessie J reveals OCD and ADHD diagnoses: 'I low key feel like it’s a superpower'
Published on March 04, 2026 EDT "It’s empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time," wrote the "Price Tag" singer.

Jessie J is ready to open up after recently being diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)  and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).

The “Price Tag” singer revealed the news in a Saturday Instagram post, alongside two videos of her younger self singing onstage.

"Hello. I was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD about 3 months ago,” she wrote. “In telling people a lot of the reaction I got was ‘Yeah I mean we knew that’ (which I’m sure some of you are doing right now).”

Jessie went on to say that she herself was aware of the disorders "to some extent" but that welcoming her son, Sky, with partner Chanan Colman in 2023 ultimately "exposed it a lot more" in ways both comforting and scary.

She continued, “It’s weird when you know you have been a little different and felt things differently your whole life, and finally one day when you least expect it, someone really explains why and you can’t avoid it. ADHD has such a wide spectrum it’s like a mystery putting your version of it together.”

Despite her struggles with the diagnoses, Jessie went on to say that it feels "like it’s a superpower as long as you look at it from the right perspective and have the right support and people around you that can navigate it with you.”

She added, "It’s made me re think about my whole life. The way I’ve been, the way I deal with things. The relationships I have had. How I work and how I love. It’s empowered me and honestly sometimes has overwhelmed me all at the same time."

After addresses how helpful it's been to "connect and heal" with strangers on social media, Jessie delved into the role self-love has played in her journey.

“I’m hugging 11 year old me. Who would clean her trainers with a toothbrush when she was stressed and to this day has lived with a 1000 lists to not feel like life will crumble,” Jessie wrote, concluding, “Here’s to getting to know yourself even more through life. And loving yourself all the way. Nothing in life defines us, but it helps us grow and become a more wholesome version of ourselves.

This isn’t the first time that the “Do It Like a Dude” singer has opened up to fans about her health. Back in 2020, Jessie shared a series of videos to Instagram Stories about being hospitalized for Meniere's disease — an inner-ear condition that can cause vertigo — which left her deaf in one ear and unable to walk properly. On previous occasions, she has also discussed having a stroke at 18 and suffering a miscarriage in 2021.

The Grammy-nominee reflected on her health struggles, during a 2022 appearance on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett, noting that she is "grateful” for each obstacle.

“When people go, ‘Oh my god, you had a stroke?, I’m like, ‘Yeah,’” she said with shrug. “I don’t even think about it, I don’t want to define myself on it. I don’t want to introduce myself with it. ‘Cause like, I’m grateful that happened. Because if those things hadn’t happened in my life — the Meniere’s, the uterus issues I’ve had, the fertility thing, the miscarriage — like, you grow in moments of sadness and pain. And I grew up in those moments and I didn’t take my body for granted.”

She added, “And I think it’s actually given me more moments of beautiful success and joy in my life.”
