Flavor Flav couldn't contain his excitement to present an award to Taylor Swift at the VMAs

Flavor Flav wore his King Swiftie honors proudly on Wednesday at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Early in the annual awards show, the rapper and Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Jordan Chiles took the stage to present the award for Best Collaboration, and Flav couldn't contain his excitement when he realized Taylor Swift and Post Malone won for their song "Fortnight."

The Public Enemy star jumped up and down on stage before hugging Swift, who could be heard asking how he was and saying to him, "You are so sweet. You’ve been so sweet to me, thank you.” As he handed her the famed moonman statuette, he made her signature heart hands motion to the crowd.

Flav is a well-documented fan of Swift. Last year, he attended the world premiere of the Eras Tour film, and even attended a tour stop in Detroit. At the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards, he wore a T-shirt with a nod to lyrics from Evermore's "Willow" that read, "I come back stronger than a ’90s trend." He even posed for viral selfies with Swift, who was honored with the Innovator Award at the ceremony.

"I love me some Taylor Swift, man, always did," Flav told Billboard on the award show red carpet, later adding in a separate interview, "I'm here to support her. I got good blood. I ain't got no bad blood." True to his word, Flav frequently tweets in support of Swift online and has given himself the moniker "King Swiftie."

Swift wasn't the only talented woman Flav honored on Wednesday night though. Prior to presenting the award to Swift and Malone, he honored Chiles, whose 2024 Paris Olympic bronze medal was controversially stripped following a scoring appeal dispute.

Pulling out an oversized bejeweled bronze stopwatch, Flav told his co-presenter, “I just want to turn this into a little Olympic moment for a second if ya’ll don’t mind. Ay yo, Jordan, I know they tried to take your medal away from you, but you know what? I got you something that they can’t take away from you.”

After loud applause from the crowd, Chiles said, “Wow, I don’t even know what to say here. Thank you so much.”
