Macklemore unknowingly brings wanted woman on stage, leading to her arrest

Macklemore inadvertently set his own version of Trap last weekend.

In a bizarre sequence of events, a woman was arrested after appearing on stage during the "Can't Hold Us" rapper's performance at Lovestream Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Saturday.

The Slovak Republic Police revealed information about the case in a translated Facebook post, explaining that the woman was selected to join "one of the foreign performers" (which an accompanying photo confirms as Macklemore) on stage, and another fan recognized her face from the wanted persons portal on a law enforcement website.

Local news outlet Plus 7 reported that the woman was wanted in connection to a 2019 incident in which she allegedly streaked topless at a soccer game. The outlet reported that the woman spent a weekend in jail at the time, and was also hit with an €800 fine — and she allegedly never paid it, which is why authorities arrested her this week.

Fan video shows the woman, whom Macklemore identifies as "Samantha," dancing around the stage with the rapper during his performance of "Downtown." The Slovak Republic Police post notes that authorities waited until she exited the stage to take her into custody.

Reps for Macklemore did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment, and the musician has not acknowledged the incident publicly. However, Macklemore did make a post about his Lovestream set being evacuated due to heavy rain.

The rapper wrote that "Lightning vigorously pierced the Bratislava Slovakia sky," leading him to be "unsure if we were meant to touch the stage that night." Eventually, spectators were let back into the show. "I’m sure some went home, but from my eye 25,000 beautiful drenched humans resumed in their places with spirits as charged as the lightening in the distance. We had come too far to turn back and the weather gods gave us a window."

Macklemore continued, "Something about a show almost getting canceled makes you appreciate every moment on stage even more. Gratitude ensues and it reverberated throughout the entire festival. We were alive, soaked and gave it everything. I love you Bratislava. I will never forget our night together."

Fans online noted the similarities between the Macklemore situation and M. Night Shyamalan's new movie Trap, which follows a serial killer (Josh Hartnett) as he attempts to escape the attention of law enforcement officers at a pop concert. However, in the movie, pop star Lady Raven (played by Saleka Night Shyamalan, the filmmaker's daughter) is a willing participant in the sting operation, whereas Macklemore seems completely ignorant of the situation on stage, and the police Facebook post suggests that law enforcement was not specifically targeting this particular woman when the show began.

Additionally, in a gesture of girl-dad pride that rivals Shyamalan's, Macklemore debuted a song written by his nine-year-old daughter during his set in Bratislava. "I hope Sloane isn’t mad we leaked it…" the rapper wrote in a caption of his Instagram video capturing the moment.

Lovestream Festival also saw performances by 50 Cent, Rita Ora, Tiësto, and numerous other international stars.
