GrotesquerieCourtney B. Vance teases new Ryan Murphy horror series
Published on December 01, 2025 EDT

Courtney B. Vance is remaining mum about his upcoming FX horror series Grotesquerie with Ryan Murphy, but did divulge one tidbit: it'll be a half-hour series.

Vance joined EW and PEOPLE on the 2024 SAG Awards red carpet in Los Angeles on Saturday (above), where he said that Murphy very much has the cast "on lock" when it comes to revealing any information about the series. Vance will star opposite Niecy Nash-Betts and Lesley Manville.

"I don’t who else is in it yet, but I'm excited," Vance said.

"I heard it's scary," co-host Janine Rubenstein said.

"It's all of that," Vance said, later offering, "The only thing I will say is it's a half hour. That’s all I'm gonna give ya!"

Murphy's production company recently dropped a teaser for Grotesquerie sans any footage, flashing just the names of Vance, Nash-Betts, and Manville over a black screen as Nash-Betts delivered a monologue that appeared to be a phone call.

“I don’t know what’s started. I can’t put my finger on it. But it’s different now,” Nash-Bett says in the teaser. "There’s been a shift. It’s like something’s opening up in the world. A kind of hole to the center of nothingness. What I saw today, they sent shrinks for everyone who worked this crime scene. You say, ‘Well, hon, evil has always existed.’ And cite some statistic about how the world’s getting better, less murder, more help, less global horror, never been a better time to be alive."

She concluded, “Come back. It’s not getting better. And I keep needing to hear your answers, because something’s happening around us, and nobody sees but me.” Plot and character details were not divulged, but the series will premiere sometime in the fall.

The 2024 SAG Awards are airing live Saturday night from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
